Fast and fresh loading graphics with ajaxload.info

Here’s a neat little site – ajaxload.  There’s nothing better than letting your user know when they’re waiting for something, and although a simple animation can’t tell them the exact progress, or how much longer they’ll have to wait – it’s often the thought that counts.  Your preloader / loading animation is that little extra bit of finessé for your creations.

And ajaxload has a lovely little generator to knock some graphics up for you, in a variety of formats and completely customizable colours.

ilovejackdaniels.com – Web design, development and marketing

Unusual name, great blog.  Run by Dave Child, and focusing on everything from marketing ideas to programming cheat sheets, it’s certainly worth a visit.  Theres’ a host of decent articles, and the website practises what it preaches and looks very good for it.

ActionScript 3.0 lets you work with ZIP files?

From côdeazur:

FZip

FZip is an Actionscript 3 class library to load standard
ZIP archives and extract/decompress contained files.

FZip parses ZIP archives progressively, allowing access
to contained files while the archive is loading.

The potential for this is impressive, and they’ve already implimented it in ways I wouldn’t've thought possible – an automatic .air file update checker. I’m not even sure there is a file format left that the ActionScript 3 trio can’t manipulate…

on Deziner Folio…

I’ve been a bit slack on the External links side of things recently – but Deziner Folio really deserves a mention. It’s run by two guys – Navdeep and Navin. Deziner Folio is slick, with a nice design, spiffy transitions and, well, generally good ideas with the interface, there’s also a host of resources that they make available for download / demonstration – such as ‘Web 2.0′ Photoshop layer styles and various Image Gallery scripts.

Website screenshots made easy.

Really easy, in fact. www.websitescreenshots.com has a downloadable program by Nathan Moinvaziri which is simply awesome. It ties into Internet Explorer, and uses it to capture a full or part screenshot of any website. It has all the native features your own Internet Explorer has, so Flash and Javascript and the like, all the features you need (cropping, resizing, resampling) and even full-page view. It’s also free. (but without command line abilities) I found it while searching for some sort of wordpress plugin to replace my reliance on the Snapshots rollovers. Oh, I know such a plugin could exist, but it doesn’t. Even so, getting screenshots on the web is now as easy as Open WebShot > Enter URL > Capture > Upload > Send to Editor > Publish.
