What is Fiddler?

From the Fiddler website:

Fiddler is a Web Debugging Proxy which logs all HTTP(S) traffic between your computer and the Internet.

Simple really. Introduced to me by Chris Preece, this is a Microsoft-made free debugging tool which shows you all of the header information and file requests that your browser makes. It’s works with IE, and also claims to work with other browsers (I’ve never tried this though)

What does it do?

It has many more technical capabilities than those I need, but I found this quite useful for debugging flash movies on live websites. I’ve never really figured out the whole ‘remote-debugging’ features of Flash, so Fiddler offers another way of debugging them – showing you all the url requests that the flash movie makes. You can easily identify where things are going wrong once you find your crazy malformed urls in the requests list.

FlashDen sells premade flash ‘bits’. It’s like a marketplace, with every user able to buy and sell flash files, all for pretty reasonable prices. (We’re talking $2 – $30 here.) And the files are anything from Preloader bars to fully-featured xml-driven portfolios. It’s worth a look.

Have I got anything on there? No. Have I bought anything from there? Not yet. It’s got a slick design though, and the Flash content is really inspiring. Like, the kind of stuff I started learning flash for, but then forgot about. I’m certainly going to be studying them for the future, though…

Very easily, you can now save out both normal and package icons from Photoshop, with the addition of the plugins available from Telegraphics.

It’s about time I had a proper favicon for this site, so I stole some inspiration from Adobe and added my own little twist. Voila!

The CSS Formatter / Optimizer is an online form, that can format your CSS in a variety of ways. Just copy & paste, select your options, and the form will chuck your formatted CSS back at you. Why use it? Well, I’m still using Dreamweaver 8, and although it’s very competent at things like XML and HTML formatting, it’s no good at doing CSS. I like to use this website towards the end of my projects, and it makes your stuff so much neater (and more efficent, if need be)

Doesn’t look like much, as I’m sure you’ll agree, but these techie things don’t really need to now, do they?
